| Customer Review: This
is a terrific book. It is about exploring spirituality and self through nature (among
other things). If you are intelligent and even slightly mature you will find this
book to be beautiful...in fact it won a Pulitzer prize. A book full of rich imagery,
beautiful metaphors, and anecdotal events that Ms. Dillard encounters on her adventures
in the area near her home on Tinker Creek. Anyone who doesn't like this book has
spent too much time watching TV. -- A Reader from New York |

| Book Description:
Hordes of bloodthirsty wolves are slaughtering the arctic caribou, and the government's
Wildlife Service assigns naturalist Farley Mowat to investigate. Mowat is dropped
alone onto the frozen tundra, where he begins his mission to live among the howling
wolf packs and study their ways. Contact with his quarry comes quickly, and Mowat
discovers not a den of marauding killers but a courageous family of skillful providers
and devoted protectors of their young. As Mowat comes closer to the wolf world, he
comes to fear with them the onslaught of bounty hunters and government exterminators
out to erase the noble wolf community from the Arctic. Never Cry Wolf is one of the
brilliant narratives on the myth and magic of wild wolves and man's true place among
the creatures of nature. |

| Amazon.com Review: It was the United States Department of Interior that
commissioned Ansel Adams to document the country's national parks. Though the project
was suspended after just one year because of World War II, Adams was still able to
create quite a few astonishingly beautiful photographs of the American landscape.
Arresting images of Yellowstone's geysers, the Grand Canyon's ravines, Glacier and
Grand Teton national parks' mountains and the southwest's ancient adobes fill the
book's pages. Perusing this palm-sized volume is akin to touring the country's natural
monuments with this most gifted nature photographer along as a companion. |

| Customer Review: Raphaela
Pope, a well-known animal communicator and teacher, and Elizabeth Morrison, one of
her animal communication students, have written a wonderful collection of stories
about their interactions with a wide array of animals. There is a chapter each on
cats, dogs, horses, birds, whales, dolphins and wolves. The authors gradually expand
their focus from smaller-scale stories of domestic animal companions to wide-ranging
interviews with animals living in the natural world. -- Kristin von Kreisler from
Woodside, California |

Customer Review: The
author did an unbelievable amount of research to write this book.
Check the list at the end of the book.
How the owner, trainer, horse and jockey all came together is an absorbing story,
and has a great deal of general history too. The author is a master of describing
a horse race. Some of her race descriptions are almost like seeing the race. This
book is a masterpiece of writing as it shows the dedication and drive of all the
people involved and especially the heart and gameness of Seabiscuit. There is a good
insight into the life of jockeys as well as their mounts. No horse lover should miss
this book. I stayed up late to finish it in one read. -- William L. Gilstrap from

Amazon.com Review: Sue Halpern, a gifted student of the natural world, has
a knowing passion for butterflies--"not love, exactly, offered suddenly, but
a similar quickening of heart and desire ... tugging on my imagination as if it were
a loose sleeve."
Halpern's enthusiasm for Lepidoptera is catching, and her graceful advocacy of the
monarch should inspire renewed concern for their well-being in the world. -- Gregory
